The neighbors watched
|
|
Our grass grow
|
|
As they gossiped about
|

Us riffraff.
|
|
|
|
We tried our best
|
|
To lay low,
|
|
But still felt the scorn
|
|
In each laugh.
|
|
|
|
Even our own
|
|
Brought a sense of shame
|
|
With no one to blame
|
|
On our behalf.
|
|
|
|
Parsimony
|
|
Parts the lonely
|
|
Until one has
|
|
The last half.
